Everything you need to know about LED displays, ordering, shipping and after-sales

💡 Product & Technology

What is the difference between COB and SMD LED display technology?
COB (Chip on Board) directly mounts LED chips onto the PCB substrate and encapsulates them as a single unit, eliminating individual lamp beads and wire bonding. This creates a more durable, dust-proof, moisture-resistant surface with better heat dissipation and wider viewing angles. COB is ideal for fine pixel pitch indoor displays under P1.5, while SMD (Surface Mount Device) remains more cost-effective for larger pixel pitches and outdoor applications where encapsulation width is less critical. Both technologies are in active production at Asia Vision, and we can recommend the best option based on your project requirements.
What pixel pitch should I choose for my LED display?
Pixel pitch is the distance between adjacent LED pixels measured in millimeters, directly determining resolution and optimal viewing distance. For indoor close-up viewing at 2 to 5 meters, choose P0.9 to P2.5; for conference rooms, retail spaces, and lobbies at 5 to 15 meters, P2.5 to P4 delivers excellent results; for outdoor advertising billboards, building facades, and sports stadiums at 15 meters or more, P4 to P10 is the industry standard. A practical guideline: the optimal viewing distance in meters roughly equals the pixel pitch number in millimeters — so a P3 display looks sharpest from about 3 meters away.
What is the difference between indoor and outdoor LED displays?
Indoor LED displays operate in controlled environments with lower brightness requirements ranging from 800 to 2,000 nits, emphasizing resolution, color accuracy, and gray scale performance. Outdoor LED screens require high brightness from 5,000 to over 10,000 nits to remain visible in direct sunlight and are engineered with waterproof coatings, conformal PCB coating, and IP65 or higher rated cabinets to withstand rain, dust, and temperature extremes. Indoor models prioritize fine detail and color precision for close viewing, while outdoor models prioritize extreme durability, weather resistance, and high-luminance visibility in all conditions.
What is IP65/IP66 rating and why does it matter?
The IP (Ingress Protection) rating is an international standard that indicates a display's resistance to solid particles and liquids — the first digit rates dust protection (6 = completely dust-tight), and the second digit rates water protection. IP65 means the display is fully dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction, while IP66 offers higher protection against powerful water jets. For outdoor LED displays, a minimum of IP65 is recommended for the front surface to withstand rain and dust exposure, with IP54 generally sufficient for the rear cabinet. These ratings are essential for ensuring long-term reliability of permanent outdoor LED installations in rainy, dusty, or humid climates.
Can LED displays be used for broadcast and studio applications?
Yes, modern fine pitch LED displays are widely used in broadcast studios, virtual production, and XR (Extended Reality) stages worldwide. Professional broadcast-grade LED screens feature high refresh rates of 3,840Hz or above, 16-bit+ gray scale processing, and precise color calibration that eliminates flicker, scan lines, and moiré patterns when captured on camera. COB and GOB technologies further improve surface uniformity, contrast ratio, and durability, making LED walls an increasingly preferred alternative to traditional green screens for film and TV virtual production — offering real-time in-camera visual effects and immersive environments.

📦 Ordering & Customization

Can I customize the size and shape of my LED display?
Yes, LED displays are inherently modular — standard cabinets and panels can be assembled into virtually any dimension or aspect ratio you need, from large seamless video walls measuring hundreds of square meters to narrow digital signage strips. We build every order to your exact specifications using standard LED modules such as 320x160mm combined into custom-sized cabinets and frames. Non-standard shapes including curved LED screens, circles, arches, and 3D geometric structures are also achievable using creative LED modules, flexible panels, and custom mechanical frameworks.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
Our minimum order quantity is generally 1 square meter for standard indoor and outdoor LED displays, providing flexibility for small projects, initial trials, or product sample evaluation. For highly customized or creative LED products such as LED floor tiles, flexible LED modules, or transparent LED screens, we will confirm the specific MOQ based on your design requirements and production complexity. We happily accommodate both small trial orders for quality assessment and large-scale commercial deployments — there is no pressure to commit to volume before you are confident in the product.
How long does it take to manufacture an LED display?
Standard production lead time is 7 to 15 working days depending on order volume, pixel pitch, and customization complexity. Large orders exceeding 100 square meters or highly customized configurations involving non-standard cabinet sizes or creative shapes may require 15 to 25 working days. We provide a confirmed delivery schedule with every Proforma Invoice (PI) and can arrange expedited production for urgent projects — please inform your dedicated sales representative of your installation timeline when placing the order so we can prioritize accordingly.
Do you offer samples before bulk orders?
Yes, we offer free LED module samples for quality evaluation and hands-on testing — you only need to cover the international shipping cost via DHL, FedEx, or your preferred courier. For complete cabinet samples, we provide them at a discounted rate so you can thoroughly evaluate the build quality, brightness, color uniformity, and overall performance before committing to a bulk production order. We encourage all customers to test our LED modules firsthand and will guide you through connecting them to a NovaStar or Colorlight controller for a complete live demonstration.

🚚 Shipping & Delivery

How do you ship LED displays internationally?
We ship LED displays worldwide via sea freight (FCL full container load or LCL less than container load), air freight, and international express couriers including DHL, FedEx, UPS, and TNT depending on order size, destination, and urgency. Every shipment is packed in reinforced flight cases or export-grade plywood crates with moisture-proof lining and shock-absorbing foam to protect sensitive electronic components during transit. For select countries, we can also arrange door-to-door DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) shipping for a fully managed logistics experience from our factory to your site.
What are the shipping costs and delivery times?
Shipping costs depend on the destination country, total order volume and weight, and chosen shipping method — we provide an exact freight quote itemized on every Proforma Invoice before you confirm the order. Sea freight typically takes 15 to 35 days and is the most economical option for bulk orders; air freight takes 5 to 10 days for moderate volumes; international express couriers deliver within 3 to 7 days for samples and urgent small shipments. We work with multiple logistics partners to find the optimal balance of speed and cost for your specific destination.
Do you handle customs clearance?
We provide all necessary export documentation including the commercial invoice, detailed packing list, bill of lading or air waybill, certificate of origin, and relevant CE/RoHS/FCC product certificates. While we handle export customs clearance on the China side, the importer or consignee is responsible for import customs clearance, duties, and taxes at the destination country per international trade terms. We highly recommend working with a local customs broker familiar with LED display imports, and we can suggest trusted logistics partners with experience in many regions worldwide.

🛠 Warranty & After-Sales

What warranty do you offer on LED displays?
All Asia Vision LED display products come with a standard 2-year warranty covering manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship from the date of shipment, with extended warranty options up to 5 years available for long-term project assurance at a modest additional cost. The warranty specifically covers LED lamp failure exceeding 0.01% (dead pixel ratio), driver IC malfunctions, power supply issues, and receiving card failures — all replacement parts are provided free of charge during the warranty period, shipped with technical guidance for your local team to install. This warranty reflects our confidence in using tier-1 components from Nationstar, NovaStar, and Mean Well throughout every product.
What after-sales support do you provide?
We provide 24/7 technical support via WhatsApp, WeChat, email, and phone for troubleshooting, configuration assistance, firmware updates, and operational guidance throughout the life of your LED display. Our engineers can assist with remote diagnostics through video calls, helping your on-site technical team resolve issues quickly without waiting for physical travel. For large-scale projects such as concert venues, sports arenas, or corporate headquarters, we offer optional on-site commissioning, calibration, and team training by our technical engineers — this should be discussed and arranged at the order stage to ensure seamless installation.
How do I maintain and clean my LED display?
Indoor LED displays should be cleaned with a soft, dry microfiber cloth or anti-static brush to gently remove surface dust; for stubborn marks or fingerprints, use a slightly damp cloth with mild, non-abrasive detergent — never spray water or cleaning solution directly onto the LED screen surface as it may seep into modules and cause electrical damage. Outdoor LED displays can be cleaned with low-pressure water and mild cleaning agents, but only when the display is fully powered off and after verifying that all cabinet seals, gaskets, and waterproof connectors are intact. Periodically vacuum the back of cabinets and ventilation areas to prevent dust buildup on connectors, receiving cards, and power supplies that can cause overheating.
Can I get spare parts for future repairs?
Yes, we strongly recommend including 3 to 5 percent spare parts — LED modules, power supplies, and receiving cards — with every order at cost price, ensuring your installation team can perform on-site repairs instantly without waiting for international shipping and customs clearance. We maintain component inventory for all active product lines in our Shenzhen warehouse, and additional spare parts can be dispatched within 24 to 48 hours of a confirmed replacement order via express courier. This proactive spare parts strategy minimizes potential downtime and significantly extends the service life of your LED display investment.
